What doctors are paid

In official statistics, healthcare and social care averages about 4.44 million som per month (H1 2026) — the lowest of the major sectors and well below the 7.09 million national average. That figure covers the whole sector, including nurses, orderlies and administrative staff, so it understates what a doctor actually earns.

Job ads look different: the median advertised salary for "врач" is 6.76 million som, and the most common figure quoted is 10 million (Jan–Aug 2026). August alone dipped to a 6 million median — one month means little, read the period. The gap with the official average exists because vacancies are posted mostly by private clinics, while state pay scales rarely appear in ads at all.

What changed in 2026

From 1 September 2026 budget-sector salaries are up 7% under presidential decree UP-115 of 23 June 2026, and the minimum wage is 1,360,000 som from the same date. For a doctor in a state clinic that applies to the base salary and to every supplement calculated from it.

In pilot district and city central hospitals, doctors’ position salaries were raised 20% and mid-level medical staff 10% (decree UP-88 of 19 May 2025). Under proposals presented to the president on 4 September 2026, the "General Medicine" six-year bachelor’s programme replaces "Лечебное дело" from the 2027/2028 academic year, and residency runs two to five years, fully state-funded and paid — residents work and study at the same time. For graduates that means the first years after university stop being unpaid practice.

How much a dentist earns

The median advertised salary for a dentist is 4.53 million som per month (Jan–Aug 2026), with 5 million the most commonly quoted figure; August alone had a 4.3 million median. The spread is the widest in medicine, from assistants to experienced specialists in private clinics.

The dentist median sits below the general doctor median not because dentists earn less: searches for "стоматолог" pull in assistants and junior staff, while "врач" vacancies are more often posted by private clinics for experienced roles. How much a surgeon earns

The median advertised salary for a surgeon is 4.67 million som per month (Jan–Aug 2026), with 5 million most commonly quoted. Surgical vacancies are few, so monthly figures swing hard — August’s median was 4 million purely because so few ads were posted. Read the full-period figure, not a single month.

Private practice matters more in surgery than almost anywhere else: private centres typically pay a base plus a percentage of procedures, and the ceiling is far above the state scale.

Doctor salary in Tashkent

There is no separate official statistic for doctors in Tashkent, but the general pattern holds: the capital averages 12.01 million som, about 1.7 times the national figure, and it is where most private clinics, diagnostic centres and dental practices are concentrated.

The medical pay reform

Since 1 July 2025 a new pay system has been running in pilot districts. A family doctor’s base is set around the $500 equivalent and doubles with a qualification certificate; nurses start around $300. As the system expands, the stated target for doctors is up to $1,500.

For a practising doctor the consequence is simple: the qualification certificate has stopped being a formality — in pilot districts it directly doubles base pay.
